Sierra Leone Consul Receives Key to City

After Sierra Leone was recently lauded by TIME magazine (see my previous story), I thought it would be appropriate to award a Key to the City to its local Consul, the Honorable George Hamilton. He’s the Honorary Sierra Leone Consul to Miami, FL and accompanied the city council on our August 2023 trip to Africa. His acumen allowed for us to have a seamless visit.  We had fruitful presentations by Sierra Leonean government officials, tours of government buildings, and smooth travels in between.  Sierra Leone was also the country in which our mayor, Alix Desulme, fell ill.  Quick action by Honorable Hamilton and local medical personnel undoubtedly save Desulme’s life.  A key to the city of North Miami was the least we could do to say ‘thank you.’  The Key was presented at our city council meeting of November 14, 2023.
