In August 2023, North Miami welcomed two new, strong, female department heads!
Cherise Gause, pictured here, is our new Police Chief. She replaces Larry Juriga who retired earlier this year. Gause has three decades of law enforcement experience. She started her career with the Miami Police Department in 1993 as a civilian dispatcher and progressively ascended through the ranks. She’ll oversee a force of over 100 law enforcement personnel.
Christine Carney is our new Parks Director. Carney joined the City of North Miami in 2015 and brings a wealth of government managerial experience. Prior to her appointment, she served as the Assistant Director overseeing the organization of recreational programs, special events, open spaces, facilities, and services for the members of the community.
