Just hours after the August 2021 earthquake in Haiti, our residents brought to city hall a huge amount of emergency relief items. Most of them were vitally needed medical supplies. Thanks to North Miami’s partnership with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), (an organization on whose board I serve) those items were already in Haiti less than a week after the disaster. AHF chartered a cargo jet that flew to Port-au-Prince and the supplies were then distributed by the United States military to the AHF staff on the ground. AHF then got it to those in need.
